Our journey into bushcraft

Discover the story behind Nomad Bushcraft, our passion for survival skills, and our commitment to helping you prepare for anything life throws your way.

The path to Nomad Bushcraft

My journey into bushcraft and survival began over 30 years ago, sparked by my first survival manual from the legendary John "Lofty" Wiseman. A couple of years of homelessness in my early 20s highlighted the critical need for substantial self-support skills. Anything can happen to any of us at any moment, and having an emergency back-up plan is crucial.

My formal training started with my first survival course with Hannah Nicholls of Natural Pathways near Canterbury, UK, in the early 2000s, igniting a thirst for knowledge that continues to this day. While no one can prepare fully for what life can throw at us, we can get pretty close.

What is bushcraft and why it matters

Bushcraft and survival are inherently woven into our very being, whether we acknowledge it or not. It's about cultivating a deep-seated readiness for whatever challenges life presents. As the Scouts wisely advise, "Be prepared." These skills aren't just for extreme scenarios; they foster resilience, self-reliance, and a profound connection to the natural world around us.

Who can benefit from bushcraft?

At Nomad Bushcraft, my mission is to keep this vital art alive and thriving. I aim to share these invaluable skills with individuals who understand that anything can happen at any moment. Whether you're an outdoor enthusiast, someone seeking greater self-sufficiency, or simply curious about reconnecting with ancestral knowledge, our courses are designed for those ready to embrace preparedness.
