Since the dawn of humanity, trees have been the ultimate survival tools. Early hominids used wood for rudimentary shelters and clubs. Wood fires later extended habitable environments, providing warmth, protection, and cooked, nutrient-dense food. 1. Fire: Fuel and Friction

 

  • Friction Fire: Ancestral humans learnt that softer woods like willow or poplar made ideal "drills" and "hearths" to generate embers through friction.
